Margaret’s Letter

Dear Ranjini

As a mother myself my heart goes out to you and your children. Keep the faith, there are many people working to help you. Fill your boys with love and hope and that the wall swill soon disappear and you will be back with your husband again.

With Faith,
Margaret

Darryl’s Letter

Hello Ranjini,

I’m writing to you from Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Trampling on basic human rights happens every day here. But the last place on earth I expect this to happen is my home country Australia. It is shameful that you have been in detention since 10 May. One day, even one hour in detention without any reason is an abuse of power and authority. I really hope you keep your spirits and hope up until Minister Bowen and his department fix the mess they have made. In the meantime, those Australians who care about human values and decency will continue to push hard for your release, and the release of many others held without explanation.

Warmest wishes,
Darryl

John’s Letter

I saw both your boys in action when they took part in a quiz shortly before you were locked up. They came across as very intelligent, bright young men – a credit to you.

We are fully supportive of you and Ganesh and will continue in our efforts to get you out.

John

Alison’s Letter

Let her and her boys go free, how horrible to be away from friends and family, and being pregnant. At least give her the evidence to support your allegations that she is a threat

Michelle’s Letter

Dear Ranjini,

Wishing you well. And I’ve chosen someone else’s words to express a sense of hope:

“What is true of the individual will be tomorrow true of the whole nation if individuals will but refuse to lose heart and hope.”

Mahatma Gandhi

Michael’s Letter

Dear Ranjini,

To not be made aware as to why you have been detained in a way that assumes you to be a dangerous person to the Australian community, is an appalling injustice committed by government against you. Furthermore, that your children are placed in custody in this way, is a gross violation of the UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child.

I am appalled and ashamed of the Australian government for permitting these actions. I will add voice of protest to what has happened. I hope that the government will heed the protests at your treatment and have you are released soon.

I extend my very best wishes to you and to your family.
Michael

Marilyn’s Letter

Dear Ranjini,

I apologise for my government who has done this terrible thing to you and your innocent boys.

Do not despair though, millions are trying to help.

Clare’s Letter

Hi Ranjini,

Hang in there and keep hoping for justice. There are a lot of people in Australia who think that the way you and others like you are being treated is inhumane and illegal. My thoughts go out to you and your children. I hope that you are able to return to the freedom that is rightfully yours and that you deserve as soon as possible.

Stay strong,
Clare

Matthew’s Letter

Dear Ranjini

I heard of your plight after a candlelight vigil and would like to write to you to let you know that you have a great deal of support in the Australian Community. Many of us believe that it is a disgrace to deny refugees, having already suffered so much oppression in their homeland, the right to a peaceful and safe existence.

I am not a refugee, I’ve never seen war or known what it’s like to loose family or friends but I do know that we have a duty to take care of each other particularly those who cannot speak up for themselves. My grandparents were refugees and benefited enormously from living in Australia.. it is unfair that for whatever reason, those same rights have not been extended to you or your family. You have my complete support, and I hope that the next time i hear of you you are free and these horrible practices have come to an end.

Please continue to, wherever possible, share your beautiful artwork with us. You have a gift and I hope you are given the ability to foster that gift.

with love, Friendship and support

Matthew James.
