Below is a response from Phillip Ruddock, Federal Member for Berowra. We agree with him, this situation does require the Minister to be proactive in ensuring a resolution – we hope he expects the same of an LNP Minister should they win the election.

I don’t believe the matter has been well handled by the Government. I am not privy to all the factual information but I do know that adverse security assessments are not made lightly and one are only made if the release of the person involved may pose a considerable risk to the Australian community as a whole. Situations like this do require the Minister to be proactive in ensuring a resolution which is in the national interest and will resolve the situation as soon as possible.
