Dear Ranjini, Ganesh, family and friends.
I read about your situation today. On what I read, I found it very disturbing and confusing. I am sorry for the incompetence and insensitivity of the people involved in your detention. I don’t know you and I don’t know the details of your case but even if there were some concerns from ASIO, to bundle you off with only 5 minutes to speak together is just dark, nastiness and cruelty.
There is a famous psychological experiment that was once done in America where ordinary people took on the roles of prisoners and guards and role played a prison situation. Within a short period the experiment was called off because people very quickly took on the stereotypical characteristics of their roles. The guards began to brutalise the inmates and so forth. From memory the name of the experimenter was Zimbardi. You should be able to Google the case. Its a very interesting insight into aspects of the unconscious.
How do we citizens hold those that do such things as has been done to you, to account? I don’t know, but they don’t speak or act for me, I hope there is a light burning that you can all see. I hope it continues to burn ever stronger and that you will soon be free. And this goes for the many others in similar situations.
